Man, this holiday season is getting away from me. I don't even feel that busy, but then I look at all the crap I have to do and, whew, I wonder where the time has gone. * * * * * * * I watched the original Night of the Living Dead (1968) yesterday, while stuffing Christmas presents into bags. IMDB gives it an 8.0, which is a very high score. It was good, but I wouldn't give it 8. * * * * * * * Hundreds of toys set aside for kids in need have been stolen just days before Christmas. Reminds me of that Eddie Murphy routine, "I mean, who would shoot the Pope? What's your intention in shooting the Pope unless you're saying, 'Look, I want to go to hell and I don't want to stand in line?' I mean, whoever shot the Pope, they'll say to him, 'You shot the Pope? Get in the express line, [expletive].'" * * * * * * * Thomas Sowell recommends books for gifting, including Inside the Nixon Administration: "This book is not just about the Nixon administration, however. It is about the ugly realities of politics behind the pious talk of 'public service.' And it is about what it means to have a very strange man as President of the United States ”“ something that is all too relevant to our own times." * * * * * * * My Amazon credits have gone well this holiday season. Many thanks for your continuing patronage. * * * * * * * Some funny Leno: "Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has been released from the hospital after undergoing treatment for a kidney stone. He says he's recovering. Good luck, that's what he said about the economy." And one Conan: "Costco will no longer sell Apple products in their stores. Apparently, nobody wants a 124-pack of iPads."
