More Americans now use weed every day than drink or smoke cigarettes
Only 13% of monthly alcohol consumers drank daily, compared to between 40 and 50% of monthly cannabis users who admitted using the drug daily.

Approximately 21.4 million Americans age 12 or over used marijuana daily in 2025, according to newly released data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
In contrast, only 17.2 million Americans drank alcohol every day or most days, defined as 20 or more days in 30 days, the data from the federal National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) found.
Summary: Marijuana is now the number one substance used regularly. Far more people still drink alcohol, but that includes moderate drinkers. For the hard core users, like 12-year-olds, apparently, pot is the regular king.
