Did I Mention Today's Sober Movement is Bogus?
(BYCU Blog Post)
That story about Feel Free contained this great nugget:
Feel Free’s explosive popularity is riding the wave of sobriety and alcohol aversion in Gen Z, and a broad movement of content creators, podcasters, and other social media personalities helped position the product as part of a holistic wellness routine.
One woman who quit drinking alcohol substituted Feel Free and was quickly drinking 12 per day.
The Prohibitionist, neo-Prohibitionist, and the rest can say what they want, but alcohol is natural and, therefore, part of creation and deserves the presumption of goodness. Alcohol runs freer than water. In moderate doses, it's healthy, even if current science can't yet figure out how.
My proof?
First, there's my mystical-like faith in tradition. Alcohol is one of the oldest, most revered, and social substances in the world. It deserves respect.
Second, all these folks like Colin (see yesterday's post) drinking gas station heroin. Something impels us to seek relief in this vale of tears. If we shut it off, you'll be inclined to replace it with something else (#California_Sober).
