The Weekend Eudemon
Off to the drinking club last night with Marie for drinks and dinner. While there, we also sold a few Mardi Gras tickets for our children's upcoming parochial school Mardi Gras party. Then we came home for a family movie night. A pleasant evening, but Saturday morning feels good.
More concerns expressed about China blasting a satellite out of space. The rhetoric from the West makes me yawn. We won't stop China. We know they're aggressive, top-heavy with testosterone, and communists. But they have the biggest potential market on earth. We'll continue to do business with them, sell them technology that can be converted to military uses, and decline to confront them about their aggression. The Chinese know our culture of commercialism will prompt us to accommodate them all the way to Armageddon.

Interesting stuff.
Bummer: Cancer study ordered into mobile phones. They're also concerned that cell phones might increase the risk of Al-whats-his-face disease and Parkinson's. I just recently started using a cell phone frequently. It has helped make me more productive at work, with the result that I have successfully freed up more time for reading and writing. The story doesn't say whether heavy usage is a factor, but it must be. I'm on my cell phone less than 20 minutes a day, so I won't worry too much about it.
And you thought you didn't have a life: A British adventurer is on the verge of becoming the first person to skateboard across Australia.
