The Netherlands is likely to become the first country in Europe to ban the burka, under government proposals that would bring in some of the toughest curbs on Muslim clothing in the world.
I don't object to the burka ban, but it's an odd step for a country that can't muster enough conviction to oppose dope and homosexual marriage. I guess when you open your country up as extremely as the Dutch did, you have to slam portions of it shut.
