Bush for Fuel Saving?

I've wondered for the past five years why President Bush hasn't asked Americans to curtail their fuel use. Fuel-fueled terrorists didn't prompt him to do it. Katrina came close, but didn't. Now, finally, Rita has prompted a request. The President has asked Americans to cut back on unnecessary travel. Link.

Of course, among a population that considers a jaunt every weekend "necessary," I doubt this will help much, but it's good to see it.
