Frustrating piece at Slate this week about the meth problem. It's frustrating because the writer has a good article idea, but then he blows it.

He draws parallels between the crack cocaine scare of the 1980s with today's methamphetamine panic. He basically says, "meth is real bad, but not as bad as it's portrayed in today's media." All right, that's fully believable. But is it real real real bad, or just real bad? He spends most of the page talking about the exaggerations of the crack cocaine problem and says the same exaggerations are happening with meth, but he doesn't tell us about today's exaggerations, except to link to (but not describe) another article and say that "crack babies" and "meth babies" are exaggerated problems.
