It's worth a try, and this organization is trying. Campaign for our Children, Inc. [http://www.cfoc.org/videospots/] Last Spring, they ran a "Marriage Works" campaign. This Fall, they're doing a new version of the campaign, plus a campaign called "Pink"

John Leo at U.S. News & World Report wrote a good piece in the October 3rd issue about mounting evidence that children need a father and mother. After controlling for demographic variables, the studies show children without both parents in the household are more likely to have problems. Link
