Blogging Ban?

I assume most everyone heard about the Catholic school that banned blogging. It turns out that the story was greatly sensationalized, and Dawn Eden has flushed it out [http://www.nydailynews.com/news/col/story/360528p-307208c.html]. Here's an excerpt from her site. It looks like things

College Finances

Must be why tuition keeps increasing and the quality of education keeps dropping: > College presidents are more preoccupied with financial issues than educational ones, according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education. NYT Link [http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/31/education/31college.html].

Career Boost

Someone wrote a story about this? I would've thought it was a foregone conclusion. In a culture that celebrates the SI Swimsuit issue and Hugh Heffner, would you expect anything different? > B-list Hollywood celebrities from “it” girl Paris Hilton to actor Tom Sizemore are finding that,

Civilization Video Game

An author at Tech Central Station writes about a video game that even I would enjoy: > The fourth entry in the acclaimed Civilization series is based on the same premise as its three predecessors: you are a small, nomadic tribe in 4000 B.C. Your goal: rise to pre-

Hey, we gotta be grateful for our medievalism however we can get it: > An artist has used scrap cars to create replicas of gargoyles that once adorned a famous Dorset abbey. Link [http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/dorset/4388386.stm].

Beer Speech Constitutional Issue?

Lighten up, Connecticut. > A constitutional battle is brewing over a holiday beer that state officials are trying to ban because they say its label might entice children to drink. > The state believes it would be really awful for kids to see the label on the British import Seriously

The Anti-Debt Crusader

NYT writes about a radio personality worth hearing [http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/30/magazine/30phenom.html?pagewanted=1]: > Well before the new bankruptcy law that went into effect on Oct. 17 made it harder for most Americans to wipe out credit-card debt, [Dave] Ramsey was waging

JPII Vehicle Sells

A surprising story on a few fronts: > A light blue 1975 Ford Escort GL once owned by Pope John Paul II sold for $690,000 Saturday to a Houston multimillionaire who said he plans to put it in a museum he wants to build in his hometown. > "

Into the Dark Ages

Although it has detractors, for me, the bi-annual clock game is always a good thing, both in the fall and in the spring. In the spring, I enjoy the extra hour of daylight, and in the fall, I enjoy that extra hour of time. Back in college, I remember
