More on Commodity Children

You remember B16's words about merely tolerating children [https://thedailyeudemon.com/4469/]? Well, the Times Online today ran an op-ed on the same subject [http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,24391-2168664,00.html]. It might be the best opinion piece I've read all

Something for Sunday Morning

From the stained glass windows at Norwich Cathedral (see more [http://contemplare.blogspot.com/]). My grandmother had a special devotion to Jesus as shepherd. A Lutheran, she didn't phrase it that way, but she did. Today's Gospel reading reminds me of her, a fine woman whose

The Comeback Kids

Time to get out that Zeus suit and do some seducin' and rapin' [http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,,1767802,00.html]: > It has taken almost 2,000 years, but those who worship the 12 gods of ancient Greece have finally triumphed. An Athens court

Brews You Can Use III

What is America's best lite beer? In this Philly taste test, [http://cbs3.com/consumer/local_story_118213542.html] no clear winner was declared. But they made one finding that I enjoy: Bud Light is no good. The best lite beer, incidentally, is MGD Lite (just my opinion,

Brews You Can Use II

Need a beer for Cinco de Mayo [http://www.vivacincodemayo.org/history.htm]? Try this [http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/05/04/WIGA7IJFVB1.DTL], a beer with chipotle chiles (smoked jalapenos). I'll pass, but if that's your thing, drink

Brews You Can Use

How much can you drink tonight? To merriness. From Charles Coulombe's article, Rum, Romanism, and Rebellion, in the most recent Catholic Men's Quarterly [http://www.houseonthemoor.com/]: > [T]he view of the Church [with respect to drink] go back to the Book of Proverbs'

Fathers of the Church

I know I already plugged it once, but if you're interested in history and you're not reading Fathers of the Church, you're missing a lot. I'm stunned at the amount of great script that Michael Aquilina is cranking out . . . every day. Read,
