The Holiday Eudemon

Happy holidays! Today kicks off the holiday season, at least in Michigan. Working backwards: New Years, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Opening Day. Yup: Today is opening day of deer season in Michigan. Some factories shut down; workers take vacation days; union workers take sick days; Michigan Kennedies call in drunk. It&

The Tuesday Morning Eudemon

Those crazy Wiccans: > The widows of two combat veterans sued the government Monday for not allowing Wiccan symbols on their husbands' military headstones. > The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs allows military families to choose any of 38 authorized headstone images. The list includes commonly recognized symbols

Monday Moanin' Eudemon

Another week, another struggle to get to the weekend. There's a fair amount of blogging material out there to start the week. For starters, Sir Elton speaks candidly [http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,228860,00.html]: > "I think religion has always tried to turn

Something for Sunday Morning

> No sooner has [a person] started to pray than, conjured up by his inner unrest, all sorts of other things clamor for attention: a task at work, a conversation, an errand, a newspaper, a book. All these suddenly appear most important, and prayer seems a sheer waste of time.

The Weekend Eudemon

Nice, mellow morning. I slept like a log like last night, except for a few hours of Max (3) jabbing me in the ribs. When it got out of control, I went to the living couch, but discovered that Jack (10) and Michael (8) had taken all the afghans to

The Friday Eudemon

Groggy morning. The drinking club held its biggest fundraiser of the year last night. I went out early to sit on the deck, quaff a tall one, and enjoy a 68-degree day while overlooking the lake. Fortunately, I didn't stay late, but I'm still paying

The Thursday Eudemon

Today is the feast of the Dedication of St. John Lateran! What's that? It's " the oldest, and ranks first among the four great 'patriarchal' basilicas of Rome. [http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/09014b.htm]" You ever run across something only once a

The Wednesday Eudemon

No happy spirit this morning. I don't mind the Republican collapse yesterday, but the free sex and death culture's trifecta worries me: "South Dakotans rejected a law that would have banned virtually all abortions, Arizona became the first state to defeat an amendment to ban

The Tuesday Eudemon

Election day. Goodness knows, the Republicans deserve a slap, but I'd love to see the look on the collective MSM's face if the Dems don't at least win the House. They're drooling on themselves right now: the House, the Senate, the majority

Monday Moanin' Eudemon

Slow moving Monday. For some reason, I was absolutely exhausted all day yesterday, and it has carried over today. I'm hoping to snap out of it shortly, but until then, just a few things: It's not too often you applaud an Anglican bishop, unless maybe you&
