The Thursday Eudemon

Sanjaya is gone, but I didn't see it. I'm sidelined with a cold, so I'm basically sleeping, sucking zinc lozenges, and walking real slow. Drudge has a neat run-down of presidential candidate reactions to the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the

Beam on Fire

A reader sends along one of the best columns I've read in awhile: "Gay people, give me back my stuff [http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living/articles/2007/04/18/gay_people_give_me_back_my_stuff/?p1=email_to_a_friend] ." The article is

Abbreviated Eudemon

I'm strapped for time this morning. LewRockwell today has a good article with a slightly-different angle on gun control and VPI [http://www.lewrockwell.com/gregory/gregory134.html]. Generous excerpt: > Back in early 2006, a plan in the Virginia legislature to allow for concealed carry on

Virginia Tech

I'm not in a jolly mood. I'm not remotely acquainted with anyone at Virginia Tech, and I'm not the type who appropriates another's tragedy for his own emotional indulgence, but I'm a little numb at news that 33 are dead

Monday Mornin' Eudemon

This might be the dumbest story I've read this year: Porn actresses say they like to go out with regular guys, but sometimes the regular guys are intimated [http://www.sunjournal.com/story/207790-3/bsection/Can_regular_guy_date_a_porn_star/] . Thank you, Dr. Insight. You

Something for Sunday Morning

"Truly, my child, if I were allowed to see my sins, three or four men would not be enough to weep for them." Anonymous (Sayings of the Desert Fathers) __________ Confessions of a studious man: "About five years ago, I began to realize that twenty years of arduous

The Weekend Eudemon

On tap this weekend: Social gathering, short field trip with Meg, Mass, soccer game, church breakfast, out-of-town company. My wife told me last night that I've become a recluse, but it simply isn't true. I think she means I've become a person

Friday

Color me flummoxed over Imus. I listened to him when I lived in Detroit in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I liked him; I didn't like Howard Stern. I found Imus somewhat urbane, if occasionally outrageous; I found Stern consistently obnoxious. When I started listening to Imus,

The Quick-Hitting Eudemon

Stay on the sidewalk: A car driven by a hi-tech ghost of laser sensors and computers went on exhibit in London Wednesday, before it competes against other robot cars in the United States in November. [http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=070411134854.is6fcdju&show_article=1] I

Imus Commentary

I haven't weighed in on the Imus conflagration, but a reader has sent to me the best piece of commentary I've seen so far [http://www.kansascity.com/182/story/66339.html]. Excerpt: > While we're fixated on a bad joke cracked by an
