Holidays and Ignatius

Ceiling. Trastevere

The holidays pick up steam: Michael (Number 4) arrived home last night. Kids 1 and 2 are due in 48 hours. Blogging will slow down during the holiday week but, as always, I will post something every day.

Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Antioch in the Eastern Orthodox Church today (his Feast Day is October 17th on the RCC calendar). Legend says he was the child whom Christ took and presented to the apostles as the example of the one who is greater in the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 18:1. I know I've mentioned that before, but I love that tradition, so you can probably count on me to mention it twice a year on his feast days. If you want to reduce the reference by half, petition Rome and Istanbul Constantinople to sync their calendars.

Stop the digital surfing! Click over here now: "More and more, Millennial Catholics are flocking en massé to traditional practices and devotions, to the horror of many. But is such fear necessary?" It's rare I print out an article for careful reading, but I did this one. The young man takes a whack at everything touching on the headline: millennials, the Mass, Vatican II, homosexuality in the priesthood, Catholic practices, etc. It's a must-read, if you care about things Catholic . . . and even if you just care about American culture.
