Two pregnant women were killed this week, one in New York and one in Texas. The New York slaying was apparently a lover's squabble. We haven't heard of any leads in the Texas case. Then there's the gruesome attack a few months ago on the Kansas woman whose baby was cut from her stomach. We're also reminded of studies that say homicide is a leading cause of death among pregnant women.
We hate to be a downer, but it makes us wonder even more about sex, children, and blood lust (see op-ed piece below).
