Miscellaneous Rambling

Great weekend. I attended a high school reunion Friday night. About fifteen years ago, I pushed hard to hold "all-class" reunions on the evening before the main reunion. The idea has taken off, so this year, it's the Class of 1985's 30-year reunion. They put the word out that they'd be meeting the night before at a local watering hole and encouraged people from surrounding years to attend. I was in the Class of '84, so I went over and shared some drinks with old friends. I've now attended all-classers for the classes of 1980, 1981, and 1985. There might be a few others as well, but the problem with reunions is, I'm normally on vacation when they take place. * * * * * * * Been meaning to plug: Newman's Bookshoppe, in downtown Kalamazoo. It's possibly the nicest Catholic book store I've ever seen, combining a great selection of books with surroundings that make you want to sit down and read them. If you find yourself in Kalamazoo, be sure to stop by. * * * * * * * Wealthy Man to Attractive Woman: "Would you have sex with me for ten million dollars?" Woman thinks for a second and says, "Yes, I suppose I would." Man: "Would you have sex with me for fifty cents?" Woman: "No! What do you think I am?" Man: "We've established what you are, Mam. At this point we're just haggling over the price." * * * * * * * Kinda interesting development about 40 minutes from my house: Efforts to restore the church in Michigan where the hymn "The Old Rugged Cross" was introduced (in 1913). The building was built in 1862 as a hops barn, turned into a church in 1876, and back into a barn in 1916. * * * * * * * Pretty interesting Reddit post about the lifestyles of the uber-rich. * * * * * * * Light blogging winds blowing ahead.
