Bullets

My Michigan Wolverines are doing well, despite losing their (arguably) best player a few weeks ago for the season. They knocked off a hobbled MSU team Saturday night, at East Lansing. They've beaten three teams in the past two weeks that were ranked in the Top 10 when they played. * * * * * * * I invested in a bunch of seeds for long-term storage. Half-pound of beans seeds, quarter-ounce of lettuce seeds, etc. I plan on storing them in canning jars and putting a desiccation packet in each jar, then putting them in a dry, dark, somewhat cool place. Anyone have any concerns or other suggestions? * * * * * * * It's hard to imagine gardening, of course, with this brutal weather. Man, sub-zero temps yet again. * * * * * * * I guess the Michigan legislature might expand the number of days schools can take off for weather, without requiring them to make up the days at the end of the school year. They ought to. * * * * * * * The whole hour requirement, of course, is stupid. The idea that you get more knowledgeable by being in school longer is like thinking you get stronger by eating more. * * * * * * * I lifted that last simile from someone's observation that reading more doesn't make you wiser any more than eating more makes you stronger. * * * * * * * New Schall book: Remembering Belloc. "When we 'remember' Belloc, we remember much of what we are, much of what we ought to be." This, at a time when I've been delving back into Belloc the Historian. I'm going to order Schall's book. I'm just hoping St. Augustine's Press issues it through Kindle. Its website indicates it's going to start rolling out e-publications of its books, but it doesn't say when. If anyone knows, please drop me an email.
