Autobiographical Corner

I'm back. I went to Alpena, Michigan, for eight days. My family has a cottage on Lake Huron that has been in the family since 1945. We relaxed, played games, took a shipwreck tour (there are over 100 wrecks in the Alpena vicinity), then came home on Friday . . . to a buzzsaw of activity. Scott Hahn spoke in our town on Saturday. I was in charge of driving him back to South Bend. It was an enjoyable hour in the car. We have a handful of common friends/acquaintances, so we actually had stuff to talk about. He's a heckuva nice guy, and he's even more erudite in personal conversation than he is in his lectures. If you get a chance to hear him speak, I highly recommend you do it. . . Following the Scott Hahn conference, I attended a bachelor party (strange juxtaposition, that), then I spent Sunday trying to plant my Fall garden and attending the wedding.

So, when my vacation ended on Friday, it really ended. From relaxation to feverish activity in sixty seconds. Not much blogging today. Just a handful of pics:

Shipwreck tour pics (sun was really bright):

My garden "haul" when we returned (note: a friend took "bags" of tomatoes out of the garden while we were gone; it's not good to leave ripe tomatoes on the vine--they attract insects):
