This story was entitled, "Sexism May Shorten Men's Lives: Study." On first glance, the headline is a gross distortion of the article's content. But on second thought, maybe it's not. If sexism consists of physical violence, most of the alleged sexism in our culture simply doesn't exist. This is good news indeed. Next time someone accuses me of being a sexist, I'll exonerate myself be pointing to this article and my chivalrous attitude and behavior toward women.

British researchers analyzed rates of female murders and male death rates from all causes in 51 countries in Europe, Asia, Australasia, and North and South America. The prevalence of violence against women was used to indicate the extent of patriarchal control in each of the countries. Socioeconomic factors were also taken into consideration.
