Booze, Bouncer, BYOB . . .

With the NCAA Tournament less than 24 hours away, along with the generous amount of drinking that accompanies it, we suspect this piece could be handy. Frank Rich, editor of Modern Drunkard Magazine, has provided the etymology of a host of drinking words. According to Rich, “There are more slang words for inebriation than there are for any other word in the English language.” Rich has apparently tried to trace the beginnings of every single one of them, plus a few others. The essay runs over 7,000 words. No doubt a labor of love on Rich's part, it's definitely worth reviewing.
