NYT's Increased Religion Coverage

In order to build readers' confidence, an internal committee at The New York Times has recommended taking a variety of steps . . .
The committee also recommended that the paper "increase our coverage of religion in America" and "cover the country in a fuller way," with more reporting from rural areas and of a broader array of cultural and lifestyle issues.

Great, the NYT will increase its coverage of religion in America. It'll probably be divided into three genres: mocking, misrepresenting, and muddled.

In order to write about religion, it helps to have religion. We don't see it at NYT. Maybe they'll hire some new writers.

Hey, Andrew Sullivan's available! He understands Catholicism (well, kinda) and he's gay. We gotta believe the NYT's new-wave editors would love to get him on the religion board.
