eBay-Mania Hits Peru

It's one of the odder stories that we missed. A teenage model who struggled to support her sick mother and younger brother hit on a sure-fire idea: She'd auction off her virginity. People in Peru were infuriated; one Canadian man offered $1.5 million. She shrugged them both off and decided not to do "It." Some say it was a publicity stunt. We don't know, but we like it. Link.

In fact, we hope it was a publicity stunt. She played off modern culture's obsession with sex and money in order to provide for her family--but without surrendering. How many of the tramps in Playboy can say that? (Note: The article says she still lives in poverty, but that might change.)
