Gorgeous day yesterday: 62, sunny, breezy. Hardly February weather, but a nice piece of compensation for an absolutely wretched November-January stretch. I did most of my favorite warm weather things: read on the front porch, talked with my kids on the front porch, shot baskets with my kids, went for a walk, went for a bike ride. I was going to have a beer on the front porch, but passed at the last second in favor of a nap. The weather turns colder later this week, but nothing in the extended forecast calls for 10 and below temperatures. I think (hope, pray) the worst is behind us.

I just learned that Amy Welborn's husband, Michael Dubriel, passed away, just 50 years old, young children at home. A year ago, I would've been one of the first to read about it since I frequented scores of Catholic blogs every day. My finger is no longer pressed on the the Catholic blogosphere's pulse, but I'm a bit embarrassed that it took me almost a week to get the news. I encourage all of you to buy some of Dubriel's books. The proceeds will go to the children's college fund . . . and OSV has promised to double his commission on all sales.

One of the oddest assortment of facts I've ever seen. Unfortunately, I don't know which are true, which are false, and which are somewhere in-between. Any input below is appreciated.

Some funny Conan O'Brien: "A new study was released listing companies that might not survive 2009. One of them was Krispy Kreme. Also not likely to survive 2009 – Krispy Kreme's customers."
