Mere Censorship?

Bobby Maddex at the Crux blogs writes this interesting post:

"Our sister publication *Touchstone* received an interesting email yesterday from a high school teacher who could not access its blog [Mere Comments](http://merecomments.typepad.com/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com) from work. Apparently, the school uses a security program called **Bess** to prevent students from visiting pornographic sites or others the school deems inappropriate.

"Readers should know that the teacher had no problem with any of the various Planned Parenthood links, including one that advertises sex toys. . . One wonders about the precise nature of the school's blocking criteria."

If anyone knows anything about Bess or has experienced a similar thing with school filtering software, we'd love to hear about it--as would the folks at *Touchstone*.
