I'm going: [Las Vegas is opening The Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, which will showcase southern Nevada's colorful and storied past in organized crime.](http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2008-10-02-vegas-mob-museum%5FN.htm?csp=34&ref=thedailyeudemon.com) I first became interested in mob history when I was about ten. My parents were watching a TV series (on PBS?) that recreated early American Mafia history: Masseria, Maranzano, Luciano, Pizzeria. I started watching it, and the interest niche stuck for the past thirty years.

Neat story from earlier this week that I missed: [In Iraq, a Monastery Rediscovered Near Mosul, War Has Helped and Hindered Efforts to Excavate the 1,400-Year-Old Dair Mar Elia Monastery](http://www.fathersofthechurch.com/2008/10/01/1587/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com).
