Alka-Seltzer has a (new?) product that is designed to combat hangovers: Wake-Up Call. It's a combination of aspirin and caffeine. I rarely have hangover problems any more, but I might keep some on hand if I find it on sale.

They're apparently targeting the heavy drinking market. I like this warning: "Do not use for more than 2 days for hangover." Ouch. I've had some bad hangovers, but I've never been hungover for two days, much less three.

The beginning of this year's football season will see the return of those iconic Miller Lite television commercials where sports figures, comedians and other celebrities debated whether Miller Lite tasted great or was less filling. The “Great Taste, Less Filling” tag line debuted over thirty years ago and was responsible for reviving Miller Brewing and pushing them into the second place spot, behind Anheuser-Busch.

Of related interest: The Top 100 advertising campaigns of all time. Interesting list. "Tastes Great, Less Filling" finished eighth, which is admirable, but it should've beaten Nike's "Just Do It" (4th). Other alcohol products that made the list: Budweiser ("This Bud's for You"), Blue Nun wine, Molson, Hamm's, Black Label ("Hey Mabel, Black Label"), Bartles and Jaymes.

The drum beat grows louder: College presidents from about 100 of the nation's best-known universities, including Duke, Dartmouth and Ohio State, are calling on lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18, saying current laws actually encourage dangerous binge drinking on campus.
