Alright, I'll go out on a limb here: Possibly the best magazine article ever written. I read it in bed Tuesday night and I couldn't put it down. It's about Brooklyn's gentrification, and how a local blog commentator (calls himself "The What") is dumping pessimism on everyone's fun. It's a topic that only midly interests me, but the article is written with remarkable flare: jumpy but coherent, serious but funny, cutting-edge but solid prose. Warning: Awfully vulgar at points.

MTV must now ponder its entire reason for existence: U.S. teens are having less sex, doing fewer drugs and smoking fewer cigarettes than those who grew up in the 1990s, a study released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found.

Huh, so I'm not the only one: A teenage bride-to-be has postponed her big day - while she seeks a cure for her irrational fear of vomiting. But I wouldn't say my fear was irrational.
