Dominatrix Administers Different Sort of Pain
A former sexual sado-masochist pain administrator in San Francisco takes a new job at the SF Treasury Department. One of the office managers, a former client, harasses her, including requests for “a session.” The employee files suit, which has now been settled for five-figure damages. The plaintiff has no regrets about the suit or her prior life: “While I have no shame over what I did to make a living, I didn't want to be in a position where I was judged by the choices I made.” LINK
We don't condone the office manager's harassment, but the plaintiff makes us nauseous. It's the same warped idea of freedom that we've seen in other areas: “I want the freedom to be a pig without being treated like a pig.”
We're also a little confused about how one harasses a sexual dominatrix. We remember a slander case where the plaintiff was a mobster. The judge ruled that some people's reputations are so tarnished that they can't be slandered. Wouldn't a similar principle apply here?
