# Wednesday

One day at a time. On Monday, I started coughing up blood and the pain returned to my chest. My doctor sent me to get chest x-rays and blood work. On Tuesday, I woke up feeling bad, and then around 10:00, I suddenly felt pretty normal. The rest of the day went well, and I woke up this morning feeling normal. Maybe this thing is finally gone, and after only nine days! But it's been unpredictable and unnerving, so I ain't getting cocky.

The anorexics are on the runways and the B52s are in the office. But anorexics earn more, according to this story in *The Atlantic Monthly* that says overweight white women earn less (for whatever reason--[probably some sort of latent racism](http://www.blackvoices.com/black%5Fnews/canvas%5Fdirectory%5Fheadlines%5Ffeatures/%5Fa/the-image-of-the-fat-black-women-gains/20060801124009990001?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)\--it doesn't apply nearly as much to minority women . . . or to any race of men).

(Frustrating: I can't find a link. They don't have the current issue online yet. The ability to get stories online with my subscription is one of the primary reasons I subscribe. [I know they changed their Internet policy to make everything free](http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200801u/editors-note?ref=thedailyeudemon.com), but they didn't say that they'd no longer offer the current issue to subscribers, which I think is a fair compromise.)
