One day at a time. On Monday, I started coughing up blood and the pain returned to my chest. My doctor sent me to get chest x-rays and blood work. On Tuesday, I woke up feeling bad, and then around 10:00, I suddenly felt pretty normal. The rest of the day went well, and I woke up this morning feeling normal. Maybe this thing is finally gone, and after only nine days! But it's been unpredictable and unnerving, so I ain't getting cocky.

The anorexics are on the runways and the B52s are in the office. But anorexics earn more, according to this story in The Atlantic Monthly that says overweight white women earn less (for whatever reason--probably some sort of latent racism--it doesn't apply nearly as much to minority women . . . or to any race of men).
(Frustrating: I can't find a link. They don't have the current issue online yet. The ability to get stories online with my subscription is one of the primary reasons I subscribe. I know they changed their Internet policy to make everything free, but they didn't say that they'd no longer offer the current issue to subscribers, which I think is a fair compromise.)
