Wow, this is nasty. I won't say much, for fear of turning this site into an exhibitionist-type pity party, but I've been diagnosed with "atypical bronchitis." I don't know what it means, so I ran some searches in Google and Yahoo. Sounds bad. Here's one of the blurbs that came up from the search: "Manic Depression, or bipolar disorder, is a variety of depression associated with ... present with symptoms of atypical bronchitis or pneumonitis followed in a ...". I don't feel very Jekyll and Hydish, but maybe that comes after I attempt to kill myself to stop the pain. Maybe I should click on the actual article before jumping to any conclusions.
The doctor basically said, "Bronchitis is typically localized. Yours has spread to every area of your chest." He put me on accelerated antibiotics, which the online med sites say don't work against bronchitis, but I am feeling a little bit better. None of the standard online med sites (WebMD, Mayo, etc.) talk about "atypical bronchitis," though some talk about "atypical pneumonia." I wonder if he meant to say that I have "walking pneumonia"? Between the (apparent) effectiveness of the antibiotics and the symptoms, walking pneumonia would be my guess.
Until tomorrow (if I'm still alive).
