Implants to Lions

A Catholic-run hospital faces a lawsuit for refusing breast augmentation surgery to a transgendered person, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Charlene Hastings, a 57-year-old San Franciscan, inquired about the surgery at Seton Medical Center. According to Hastings, a surgical coordinator refused to allow the surgery. "She was saying, 'It's not God's will,' " Hastings said. "I couldn't believe it. It's a blatant case of discrimination."

And of course, it's fine to discriminate against a person because of his beliefs. Not only will we ignore your beliefs, the law will force you act against your beliefs. Of course, if you want to hold your beliefs and not act against them, you can, but you need to stop earning a living. It's all very reasonable.

Pantsing your nanny: An Austrian con man lived in hospitals for three years after tricking more than 90 clinics into admitting him with fake illnesses. When you're just giving away the stuff, people are going to abuse it. If you have any doubt, start a free harlot service.

This is oddly refreshing:

Thomas Jensen, head of a telesales company in Buesum in northern Germany, has laid off three non-smokers at his company and said he will not be hiring any more.
He said: "Smokers have always been our best employees. Non-smokers interfere with corporate peace.
"Our non-smoking employees were actually convinced that they had the right to smoke-free zones. They just complained all the time about smoking, and I don't like grumblers.
"It was also very disappointing that the non-smokers would distance themselves from the smokers at social events - it didn't build any team spirit. From now on, I'm only employing smokers."

Feel-good story of the day (except for the PETA folk): 80-year-old Martha Smith killed a mountain lion at her home along French Creek near Fairburn. She missed with her first shot, went into the house to call 911, then went back outside with a .22-caliber rifle. "And he was a spittin' and a growlin'," said Smith. "All I saw was flashing eyes and teeth. And I knew I was gonna have to kill him if I could."
