Light day. I was on kid duty last night. We rushed through chores, prayers, teeth brushing, and everything else, so we'd be ready for *[The Year without a Santa Claus](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072424/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)*. Dancing and singing along to the best animated scene in Christmas TV history is one of our family traditions:

Unfortunately, Snow Miser freaked out Tess (2), and she wouldn't stop crying. She ended up in her room until Heat Miser was done.

"The Golden Compass" furor heats up. [It seeks ad space in Catholic newspapers](http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=11159&ref=thedailyeudemon.com); [Catholic group endorses it](http://insightscoop.typepad.com/2004/2007/12/here-is-the-man.html?ref=thedailyeudemon.com). It seems everyone (well, *[The Atlantic](https://thedailyeudemon.com/5794/)* and [Nick Milne](http://gentlefuss.blogspot.com/2007/12/film-review-golden-compass.html?ref=thedailyeudemon.com), anyway) says the anti-religious content is watered down and that children will not be adversely affected by seeing it. But does that mean you take them? I suspect the decision to see it will boil down to this: Do you want to send Phillip Pullman 40 cents (or whatever it is he receives from each ticket sale) to compensate him for his anti-Catholic efforts?

Not much more today, but I found this humorous item: [A German man was stopped by police after he was clocked doing 40mph down a high street in a tuned-up electric wheelchair](http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm%5F2625299.html?menu=news.quirkies&ref=thedailyeudemon.com).
