Light day. I was on kid duty last night. We rushed through chores, prayers, teeth brushing, and everything else, so we'd be ready for The Year without a Santa Claus. Dancing and singing along to the best animated scene in Christmas TV history is one of our family traditions:

"The Golden Compass" furor heats up. It seeks ad space in Catholic newspapers; Catholic group endorses it. It seems everyone (well, The Atlantic and Nick Milne, anyway) says the anti-religious content is watered down and that children will not be adversely affected by seeing it. But does that mean you take them? I suspect the decision to see it will boil down to this: Do you want to send Phillip Pullman 40 cents (or whatever it is he receives from each ticket sale) to compensate him for his anti-Catholic efforts?

Not much more today, but I found this humorous item: A German man was stopped by police after he was clocked doing 40mph down a high street in a tuned-up electric wheelchair.
