Terrorist

Prosecutors in Michigan are using the state's anti-terrorism threat law to prosecute students who threaten violence against other children. According to prosecutors, there are no statutes at their disposal for these types of cases.

It sounds like the Michigan legislature needs to pass such a statute. It's not right to prosecute someone for a criminal act when statute doesn't define it as a crime.

Don't get us wrong. We support prosecuting or taking other measures against students who threaten to kill their peers, but it's not "terrorism." The statute explicitly requires a threat of "terrorism" and terrorism isn't synonymous with violence. If the law gets an expansive reading, every chubby guy who buys a thong to wear at the beach could be in jail (the Michigan legislature should address that problem, too, incidentally).
