My wife and I went out to celebrate a small matter last night, and now I'm a bit groggy and doing nothing but looking forward to a 16-ounce energy drink at the office. Time is also scarce.
Just one thing: Lowe's has apologized for referring to Christmas trees as "family trees" in its catalog. I get tired of the Christmas wars and we need to accept Lowe's apology and move on, but: What spiritual nimrod on Lowe's end actually typed "family tree" to begin with? Lowe's called it a "proofing" error. That's an acceptable response on behalf of the Lowe's corporation, but it dodges a question: Who typed that? Has he been held accountable? Has anyone asked him, "What was going through your head?"
I'm not asking for a public disciplinary hearing or anything. I don't even want the guy's name published. It's Lowe's issue. But I am genuinely curious to know that scrivener's mental process. I'm also curious to know more about Lowe's corporate culture. What made the scrivener think such a term would be acceptable to Lowe's management?
Aside: I'd never heard the term "family tree" before. Is that new this year or has it been a term in the Christmas wars for a few years now?
