# Survival

I survived the weekend. It was rough. The universe's forces (m)aligned to make three days without my wife difficult: the temperature burst to 88 degrees, weekend events were delayed or started late (every parent with small children knows how a 20-minute delay is the equivalent of a crotch bambooing), my eldest was gone 15 hours on Saturday (depriving me of his assistance and prompting me to more-or-less wait up for him until 1:00 a.m., when I ordinarily go to bed by 9:30). My Mom (dinner on Sunday) and the good priest at a neighboring village (3-minute homily and 40-minute Mass) were my only friends.
