Whatta Shocker

A reader sent us the following humorous observation:

I have been watching some of the media coverage of JPII with much amusement.
It's amazing isn't it? Here we have a man who was born into a devout Catholic family in fervently Catholic country. He becomes a Catholic priest and endures persecution for his Catholic faith. He ends up being appointed a Catholic bishop and Cardinal, participates in a Catholic council and the election of a Catholic pope and then is finally elected pope and head of the Catholic Church himself. And, lo and behold, after all that, he turns out to be ”“ of all things ”“ Catholic! Some in the media cannot understand this. It must be a fluke, an anomaly. Something is wrong. Surely this wouldn't happen again. Surely it will be different with the next pope.
