Bold but Sane

We don't agree with all of it, but The Sunday Times ran a bold yet reasonably sane call for Catholic Church action in the coming years. Link. Excerpts:

The task of doing God's will has been interpreted too narrowly, exclusively in terms of sexual morality. The church is still castigated here for its pro-birth, pro-life principles, though it is confident that events are vindicating those principles by the day. But the very clarity of moral vision that has made Catholicism popular in the developing world has caused it to be pilloried in the West.
Religion, having been repeatedly relegated to irrelevance from the Enlightenment to the 1960s, is once again the motor of history. The Catholic church remains by far the oldest, largest and most important religious institution in the world.
