I haven't read much about the Paris Hilton ordeal (one story and 192 headlines), and I'm not going to add to the drollery here, except simply to add: Despite my disgust for Paris Hilton, I always had a hunch that, underneath the whoredom, there was a strong, smart, young lady who knew what she was doing (this post and accompanying link corroborated the hunch). I never thought she was virtuous (ha ha), but I figured she at least had that old fashioned American individualistic pride that prompted her to reach for greater things. She could've sat back and done nothing her entire life, and simply lived off her family immense wealth, but she showed (twisted) initiative. As it turns out, my hunch couldn't have been more wrong. She couldn't do a mere 45 days, even though she'd been given her own cell. I suspect she's a weak, pathetic thing. It's difficult to imagine how her hysteria is some sort of PR ploy, though I'm sure it'll be spun that way by Paris and her mass media enablers.

I don't have much time for blogging today. I'm getting ready to leave for a day-trip to Detroit for the Tigers/Mets game. I have only this:

Nice remake of Bobby Darin's "Dream Lover," complete with karaoke-led lyrics. I didn't even know Los Lobos was still around.
