Man, I'm dragging this morning, but I'm ready for a challenging week at the office. Just a few quick things.
I've gone ahead and added an easy-to-find Amazon link. It's in the right sidebar, after the endorsements. If you access Amazon from my site and buy something while you're there, I get a 4% kickback. I obviously don't expect anybody to make a special purchase, but if you're buying something anyway, just go there from this site. You'll typically find that Amazon has good prices, and if the purchase is over $25, you get free S&H (though not necessarily if you're buying used stuff).
The Archdiocese of Washington is taking a great leap of faith they hope will bring Catholics back to confession: it's advertising on the radio. The marketing blitz is aimed at bringing area Catholics back to confession during the Lenten season.
It can't hurt. I'm always shocked at the number of Catholics who rarely or never go to confession. If you believe what the Catholic Church says about the sacrament of confession, you can't possibly decide to go only once a year or less. JPII is rumored to have gone weekly. If he needed to go that often, the rest of us probably need to be there every morning.
Killjoys: Holy See Urges Halt to the Abuse of Women.
This is a quandary? A Lutheran congregation is grappling with how to deal with a convicted sex offender who says his church attendance is an important step toward rehabilitation. As Christians, we're called to love. If this guy is a repentant Christian, he wouldn't put people in such an awkward position. I'd kick him out, unless he is willing to wear one of those orange prison jumpsuits to church.
