# The Light Eudemon

I said yesterday that I hate meetings, except for ones at a bar. I forgot one other qualification: except when I'm getting paid to attend them. Such was the case last night. My best client required my attendance at a meeting, with the result that I didn't get to bed until later than usual, with the result that blogging this morning will be light.

Just three quick things:

I ran across this anecdote awhile back: "Coming up pregnant as a result of an affair with a man who deserted her, \[Dorothy Parker\] is said to have remarked, 'That's what I get for putting all my eggs into one bastard.'" From Joseph Epstein, *A Line Out for a Walk*.

This woman wrote to me, requesting that I ask readers to pray for her daughter who suffered burns in a camp fire mishap. A guy can't say no to that, even though the message was relegated by Yahoo! to my "Bulk" mail slot, meaning it might have been part of a mass emailing or a hoax. Oh well.
