I've been wearing a pedometer for about two months now. My record for steps in a day: 25,100. My ten-year-old wore my wife's pedometer today. He didn't put it on until 10:00 (he got up around 7:45). He ended the day at 25,800 steps. He skipped upstairs like he hadn't exerted himself at all and went to bed. When I hit 25,100, I was exhausted when I went to bed and my legs felt like spaghetti the next day.
If you're looking for a nifty way to get some exercise, by the way, I'd recommend one of these babies. I use the Omron HJ-112. It's remarkably accurate.
