> [7-Eleven Inc. dropped Venezuela-owned Citgo as its gasoline supplier after more than 20 years as part of a previously announced plan by the convenience store operator to launch its own brand of fuel.](http://finance.myway.com/jsp/nw/nwdt%5Frt.jsp?section=news&feed=ap&src=601&news%5Fid=ap-d8kdelf80&date=20060927&ref=thedailyeudemon.com)

Good for the 24-hour eating center. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for 7-Eleven. No telling how many hangovers it helped me stave off in college by being open after the bars shut down. "I'll take a bag of chips, this hot dog that's been cooking for nine hours, a 2-aspirin packet, and a Big Gulp." Seven dollars. Even back then, when money was scarce, I realized certain services come at a price and appreciated it. There are many more 24-hour alternatives now, but back in the 1980s, at 2:30 a.m. it was 7-Eleven or nothing.

Aside from Wikipedia: "[Initially, these stores were open from 7 am to 11 pm, which was unprecedented at the time \[late 1940s\], hence the name](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7-Eleven?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)."
