A lavish wedding where newly-weds were sprinkled with shredded euro-note confetti has provoked outrage in a French town, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.
As more and more people in the West grow rich, I think I'm beginning to see a trend: the more money a person has, the less class he's likely to have. Some people might think that's semi-paradoxical, but it's not. There's nothing inherent in money that gives a person class. What makes rich people look like they have class, is their ability to buy good things. But in today's economy, most everyone has the ability to buy good things, so that phony aura of class doesn't work as well anymore. The result? The rich need to find other ways to set themselves apart, and they're doing gaudy (class-less) things.
That's my theory, anyway. I'm going to keep my mouse open for more stories about rich people doing class-less things. Maybe it'll become a regular feature.
