Mickey Spillane died. I read quite a few of his books back in my early twenties: I, the Jury; Kiss Me Deadly, and a few others. I really enjoyed them, but they are filled with violence and lust. Which is partially why I enjoyed them, of course. But I also liked the no-nonsense, even borderline dullard, virility. Spillane once said, "Mike Hammer drinks beer instead of cognac, because I can't spell 'cognac.'" His novels have the same feel as that statement.
