I'm kind of stunned by this video:

But I'm not stunned for the reason stated by lifesite news: "Fr. Larry Richards condemns parents of large, daily mass going families."

I don't think he is. I think he is singling out one family in particular: one large family in his parish, whose parents go to Mass every day, whose children all moved out of state as soon as they turned 18, whose son was a top swimmer and a Navy Seal. I know Fr. Larry's town, Erie, Pennsylvania, is decent sized (100,000), but would it really be difficult for people in the community to figure out what family he's talking about, given these details? And then mock spitting on them? Telling them they "suck"? It kinda makes me cringe.

I think lifesite news kind of posted that in light of Pope Francis' condemnation of people who go to Mass every day but don't agree with him on gay relationships and immigration, but I don't think that's a fair comparison. Based solely on this video, Fr. Larry is singling out one specific Catholic couple who had a lot of kids.

I also don't even understand these criticisms of people who go to Mass every day but don't live the faith. When I'm able to make a weekday Mass, I normally see the same people. I don't think there's a single one who, to my knowledge, hates and fails to live his or her faith. I'm not saying there aren't people like that out there (hey, it's one reason I don't go to Mass every day . . . it puts too much pressure on me!), but based on what I've been seeing over the past 25 years, it's an extremely rare occurrence.
