Excellent day at the Scheske house. Father's Day = eight servants and lots of presents: Elvis paraphernalia from Tupelo, Johnny Cash stuff, JPII book, a mat for sleeping at the office, vacation hat, and other stuff. I also told the kids that I wanted to do a Father's Day outing at the movie theater. We saw *[Cars](http://movies.about.com/cs/upcomingreleases/a/paulnewcr112704.htm?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)*. Max (2; a car fanatic) was wide-eyed the whole time, and it's a long movie.

The movie is about a race car that gets stuck in a dying town along Route 66\. It explains how the Interstate killed Route 66 and towns along it ([thanks, Ike](http://geography.about.com/od/urbaneconomicgeography/a/interstates.htm?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)). The older children were interested to learn more, so it was a good opportunity to show them an issue of *[Route 66 Magazine](http://www.route66magazine.com/?ref=thedailyeudemon.com)*, which I received when a "Guest Editorial" of mine appeared in it back in 2000\. Along with $60 (which I never received), I got two complimentary issues. It's a sharp-looking magazine. The older kids dug into it right away.

The movie, incidentally, isn't great. I'd give it a "6." There are way too many previews and a lame cartoon at the beginning. If you get there twenty minutes late, you won't miss anything.

Best line from the movie: "I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park."
