I live in the middle of Amish country: Amish to the north and Amish to the south. On my way out of town today, I saw their buggies all over the highways, then came across one of the larger Amish homes in the area where scores of buggies were gathered. It wasn't a re-po auction, and the Amish were dressed in their dark finest, so that means one thing: a church service. The occasion? I honestly don't know, but according to this website, it's the Ascension.
I find that highly interesting. I don't know of any Protestant branches that celebrate any holy day during the week, except Christmas. Yet here are the Amish, paying it immense respect, even more so than Catholics these days. Good for them.
