Michigan Week 2006. Yes, there is such a thing, and my home town is the kick-off city: parade, carnival, arts and crafts booths.
And visitors, a funeral, a baseball game, and office work.
And as I type this, 14-month-old Tess on my desk, grabbing my shoulders, giggling, thinking it's pretty neat that she got away from her sleeping mother, who stayed up late last night with our company, apparently forgetting that Tess gets up at 6:30. I type fast. You'll fogrive teh typooooos.
If you haven't guessed, blogging will be light today. I might have time to relax a little this afternoon, but I'm on the run until at least 3:00.
Aside: While looking for a link to Michigan Week, I found the state government's site and looked at the list of events. Even though the governor has traditionally come to town for our celebration, now we're not even mentioned on the website. My area is staunchly Republican. I suspect the ascension of Democratic Pro-Choice Jennifer Granholm has hurt my town in this regard, though her predecessor Democratic governor, James Blanchard, was a stand-up guy who honored the tradition.
Oh well, it doesn't mean that I shouldn't celebrate the event, and I will. Just as soon as I ditch little Tess and get a little work done at the office.
My apologies for the lame post. May something better come your way later today.
