The Chicago Tribune reports that the long-rumored deal between Goose Island Beer Co. and brewing giant Anheuser-Busch may close within the next month.
This is newsworthy, but not because of the merger, but because A-B is going for taste. Who woulda thought the maker of Budweiser cares about taste?
Yeah, I know, that's not fair. They also make Michelob, which is a quality beer. Thing is, I simply detest Bud and Bud Lite. I'll drink them in a pinch, but other than extreme situations, I won't.
Times when I drink Bud or Bud Lite:
Wedding reception with open bar . . . if there's no other beer, I don't feel like drinking wine, and my wife wants to dance later
I'm too sick or hungover to drink beer.
Someone sneaks it into a Foster Lager bottle.
I'm doing undercover police work at a gay bar and need to fit in with the queers.
I'm stranded in the house during a snowstorm with no other beer, and I can't get the top off the mouthwash.
